This Percussionist is No Flash In The (Hand)Pan

Posted by Mindy Cronk on

Scranton native Steve Werner has worked with developmentally disabled people his entire career.  He is also a musician; beginning in middle school, Steve learned to play drums, then he added the guitar, and for the past several years, he has focused on extending his musical skills to the handpan. Steve came to the VIA studios with the handpan, to talk with Keystone Edition’s Mindy Cronk about this unique instrument and to play some of his music for us. You can hear him play live at First Friday events in Scranton, at yoga studios and at Geisinger hospital through Arts Heal, a private-public program offered through Lackawanna County.
