PPL Empowering Educators grant recipients to present their projects at the WVIA Public Media Studios on May 25

PITTSTON, Pa. – Students and teachers who received a project grant award last December through the PPL Empowering Educators program will be presenting their outcomes in the WVIA Sordoni Theatre on May 25 at 10:30am at the WVIA Public Media Studios. The event is free and open to the public.

 

This is a required part of the Empowering Educators grant process and students will be presenting their project objectives and outcomes in various formats.  There will be light refreshments provided and representatives from PPL will be present.

 

On Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2016 WVIA Public Media and PPL Corporation presented seven winning Empowering Educators teams each with $1,000 to be used as funds in the completion of a public service project.

 

Empowering Educators, sponsored by PPL Corporation, encourages students --- to make a positive difference in their communities by performing a public service tied to the fields of science, technology, engineering and/or mathematics.

 

The seven winning Empowering Educators teams from the WVIA viewing area are:

Forest City Regional High School (Forest City, PA): “3D Printing Pilot”

B.F. Morey Elementary School (Stroudsburg, PA) “Morey School-wide STEM Project”

Greenwood Friends School (Millville, PA) “Brain Power for Human Power”

Liberty Valley Elementary (Danville, PA) “Elementary Students Create Tools with 3D Printer”

Mountoursville Area High School (Mountoursville, PA) “Modeling Molecules that Matter”

Swiftwater Intermediate School (Swiftwater, PA) “SIS Library Makerspace Development”

Weatherly Area High School (Weatherly, PA) “3D Printing in the 21st Century”
