WVIA PR – Paola Giangiacomo to host upcoming 29th season of WVIA’s Call the Doctor

PITTSTON, Pa. – Award winning journalist Paola Giangiacomo will serve as host of the upcoming 29th season of WVIA’s television series Call the Doctor.

 

"We are excited to have an experienced & award winning journalist such as Paola joining our team. The addition of Paola will add more depth to an already distinguished program,” said Tom Currá, WVIA President / CEO & Executive Producer.

 

Paola Giangiacomo is a multiple award winning journalist and a 20-year veteran of Broadcast Journalism. Giangiacomo got her start at KMCT in Monroe, Louisiana where she became a weeknight Anchor. She later moved to Anchor/Reporter positions at WBKB in Alpena, Michigan, WWCP/WATM in Johnstown, Pennsylvania and then on to WNEP in Moosic, Pennsylvania where she reported, anchored and produced for nearly 13 years.  Giangiacomo holds a B.A. in Broadcast - Cable Communications from Pennsylvania State University. She resides in Northeastern Pennsylvania with her husband and two sons.

 

In addition to being seen on WVIA’s upcoming season of Call the Doctor, Paola can be heard delivering news on FOX News Headlines 24/7 on SIRIUSXM Channel 115.

 

The new season of Call the Doctor will kick off with two new episodes in the month of October. The first episode, titled “Breast Cancer: Knowledge is Power” will premiere Wednesday, Oct. 19 at 7 p.m. and the second episode, “Opioid Addiction: Overdose Epidemic” will premiere Wed., Oct. 26 at 7 p.m.

 

Call the Doctor is WVIA Public Media’s premiere medical series, which focuses on addressing the critical health & wellness needs of northeastern Pennsylvania and the central Susquehanna Valley with a panel of regional experts.
