WVIA PR – WVIA to hold Career Prep Conference on October 5

PITTSTON, Pa. – On October 5 WVIA Public Media will host the WVIA Career Preparation Conference at the WVIA Public Media Studios in Pittston, Pennsylvania from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.


The conference is presented by TMG Health and will offer lectures and discussions to attendees on how to make themselves competitive when entering or re-entering the workforce. “Preparing for the Job Search” will focus on preparation for the job search, how to use LinkedIn to establish a personal brand, how to introduce that brand to potential employers via resume/cover letter, and how to best position oneself as a candidate in the interview process.


Itinerary includes:

  • Welcome and Introduction by Thomas M. Curra, WVIA President / CEO & Executive Producer.
  • Dan Gavin, Manager Talent Acquisition at TMG Healthcare will provide insight on what applicants should and should not do when seeking employment.
  • Christina Whitney, MS, NCC, JCTC, Director of the Gerard R. Roche Center for Career Development at the University of Scranton will speak on “Preparing for the Job Search”.
  • Teri Ooms, Executive Director, The Institute for Public Policy & Economic Development will provide an overview on the job market of the area, identifying the major employers and resources available to help job seekers.
