WVIA to host special sneak preview of AMERICAN CREED on Wednesday, December 27 with Chicago Cubs Manager and Hazleton Native Joe Maddon

Last Updated by WVIA Admin on

PITTSTON, Pa. – WVIA Public Media will host a special sneak preview of AMERICAN CREED, a new documentary featuring former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Pulitzer Prize-winning historian David M. Kennedy and Chicago Cubs Manager Joe Maddon, a native of Hazleton. A segment on Hazleton and the Hazleton Integration Project is featured in the film.

In AMERICAN CREED, Rice and Kennedy team up across party lines to ask: In an increasingly fractured nation, what ideals do we share in common? Their spirited, cross partisan inquiry takes viewers on a journey to meet people from around the country who are striving to bring communities together across deepening divides. One of those stories is about Joe Maddon’s efforts to bring his hometown together through the Hazleton Integration Project, a community-based effort that seeks to unite the people of different cultures who call Hazleton home.

“WVIA is proud to co-host this preview screening with special guest Joe Maddon,” said WVIA President and CEO Tom Curra.   “This Hazleton event is the first of several regional outreach activities to celebrate AMERICAN CREED, an important documentary about opportunity, civic participation, and community progress.”

AMERICAN CREED premieres on PBS and WVIA on February 27, 2018.
