WVIA to premiere Chiaroscuro Jazz Conservancy session with Hughesville High School on Tuesday, April 5

PITTSTON, Pa. – WVIA presents the broadcast premiere of the all-new special presentation “Chiaroscuro Jazz Conservancy Sessions: The Hughesville High School Jazz Ensemble” on Tuesday, April 5 at 7 p.m. on WVIA-TV. 

 

This special television presentation follows Jazz pianist and Chiaroscuro recording artist Ted Rosenthal and 4 other professional musicians as they conduct a daylong jazz education workshop at WVIA with the Hughesville High School Jazz Ensemble. Along with Rosenthal, clinicians Marko Marcinko, drums, Tom Hamilton, saxophone, and Tony Cimorosi, bass, coach the student musicians, and then perform with them in a special final performance for a live audience in the Sordoni High Definition Theater at the WVIA Studios. 

 

The “Chiaroscuro Jazz Conservancy Sessions” television special is part of WVIA's Chiaroscuro in the Schools project, which is funded by a grant from the Degenstein Foundation. This specific event was produced in partnership with the Pennsylvania Jazz Alliance and Susquehanna University.
