Pledge for Television

At WVIA, we believe that people want to understand the world around them…and that all of us are nurtured by exposure to the arts, nature, science, and innovation. That’s why we invest in programs like Live from Lincoln Center, NOVA, Nature, Masterpiece, and Greenlife Pennsylvania. Why we produce regional documentaries and shows such as The Extraordinary Journey and Our Town Series, Homegrown Music Concerts, and Call the Doctor. Why we celebrate and champion scores of regional arts through Artists of the Week, the Scholastic Achievement Awards and the Chiaroscuro Jazz Conservancy Sessions.

We believe our society is enhanced when people have access to diverse perspectives, presented in a balanced way and free from commercial influence. That’s why we bring you PBS Newshour, POV, Washington Week, and Charlie Rose.

We believe that people who participate in civic life, engaging their communities in calm discourse, can advance civilization.   That’s why we partner with many community organizations on projects that focus on education, arts and culture, health and wellness, economic development, the quality of life.

That’s what we do at WVIA…and that’s why we do it.  How we do it…depends on you.  Membership support makes it all possible.  If you believe in these values too, we welcome you to join this non-profit public service mission.  Thanks for your support for WVIA-TV.
