William Warren Scranton: In a Clear Light

William Warren Scranton: In A Clear Light is a one-hour biographical documentary film that reflects upon the extraordinary public service career of William Warren Scranton, American statesman and the 41 st Governor of Pennsylvania. The film commemorates the 40 th anniversary of Scranton’s 1964 campaign for the Republican nomination as President of the United States, and celebrates the life of a man whose significant contributions to public service were inspired from his deep toots in northeastern Pennsylvania.

The film combines rare archival broadcast and newsreel footage, sound recordings, photographs and interview with former President Gerald R. Ford, former Secretary of State Henry A. Kissinger, Trilateral Commission found David Rockefeller and Washington Post national political columnist David Broder to focus on five aspects of Scranton’s career as a politician and statesman: his term as governor; his historic effort to win the 1964 Republican Presidential nomination; his role as United States Ambassador to the United Nations; and his experiences as a friend and advisor to five American presidents.
