A Look at How Mad Cow Disease Spreads

NPR's Joanne Silberner explains how mad cow disease started and spread. The disease was considered a medical oddity in England when it was first observed in the 1980s. Veterinarians finally figured out the disease was spread by cows eating material from other cows.
