Dear Educators,

It is with great pleasure to introduce you to brand new features at wvia.org! TheLearn At Home features are now available for all educators and families to use in these challenging times.

With this new feature, VIA will be providing Educational Resources specifically linked to the educational programs we are airing that day on WVIA TV between 1:00 and 4:00pm. All of this content will be marked by date for easy reference. Additionally, all educational programs will be available to stream online for your use anytime, anywhere.

We at VIA are excited to announce that we have made changes to our programming schedule in order to benefit you, educators and families. Our afternoon television schedule from 1pm to 4pm will provide learn-at-home opportunities for students in grades 4 through 12. Prior to the 1pm time slot, VIA will continue to air PBS Kids Programming which is educationally minded for children in Prekindergarten through grade 3.

These changes will begin on Monday, March 23rd with the first new program change to be NOVA: Look Who's Driving at 1pm.

“VIA aims to educate and inspire through quality programming and services; we hope that this change can better serve the families and school districts throughout Northeast Pennsylvania and the Central Susquehanna Valley,” said Chris Norton, Senior Vice President of VIA Public Media.

“We want families to know that they are not alone during this time and that time at home can be spent learning together,” said Kirsten Smith, Grants & Education Officer at VIA Public Media. “From Nature and NOVA to insightful documentaries, VIA and PBS have hundreds of hours of learning opportunities for students at all grade levels”.

Finally, we also have a new feature called "Reading with WVIA" each night at 7pm on our Education Facebook page using Facebook Live. During this time, we will be reading PreK-2nd grade stories to children to continue our mission of encouraging literacy and giving families some time to relax. We hope you all join us.

We hope that these changes will not only benefit your students and families, but also give you a piece of mind that our partnership with the Enhanced Scholar Schools goes beyond yearly competitions and events. We want you to know that we are dedicated to providing educational services through thick and thin. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact the Education Department via email and we will be glad to help.
