The spread of the coronavirus has been topping the news, but to date only a handful of confirmed cases of the virus have been reported in the United States. There are a number of strains of coronavirus and the current “novel strain” originated in China.
The risk of contracting coronavirus is higher for individuals who have recently returned from China within the last two weeks.
VIA’s Lisa Mazzarella spoke to April Hutchinson, communications director for the Pennsylvania Department of Health. She says although there have been no reported cases of the virus in the commonwealth, symptoms of coronavirus are similar to that of the flu.
