FCC Is Last Hurdle for Sirius-XM Merger

The merger between XM and Sirius Satellite Radio is now in the hands of the Federal Communications Commission. That's the last hurdle now that the Justice Department approved the $5 billion deal Monday.

It would create a satellite radio giant with Howard Stern and Oprah Winfrey under one corporate roof.

Consumer groups and the terrestrial radio industry still oppose the merger. They say it isn't good for listeners. Justice officials say there would be plenty of competition from other forms of audio entertainment, such as Internet and high-definition radio.
