The Agency for Community for Empowerment of NEPA (ACE) received a $200,000 grant from the state to assist unemployed and underemployed individuals in Lackawanna County.
The funding is from Pennsylvania’s Manufacturing PA Training-to-Career Program, part of Governor Tom Wolf’s Manufacturing PA initiative.
With the grant, ACE, based in Scranton, will provide recruitment, intake and programs to help under-skilled populations gain skills necessary to attain and sustain employment in the advanced manufacturing sector, according to a news release.
The participants will be trained in manufacturing competencies and work-ready, soft skills to create well-rounded, employable candidates that meet the needs of the industry in the region, according to the state.
