Local students win state poster contest ahead of moon landing

Fourth grader Autumn Hollister, from North Pocono Intermediate School, was the grand prize winner of the state’s Moonshot Poster Contest.

A collaboration between the PA Department of Education, the Moonshot Museum, Astrobotic and Penn State’s Readiness Institute, the contest celebrates America’s return to the moon this year with the upcoming launch of Pennsylvania-based Astrobotic’s Peregrine Lunar Lander.

Autumn also received first place elementary school and the Spirit of Enterprise Award.

Fifth grader Rachel Feng from Liberty Valley Intermediate School in Danville placed first for the Eastern Region and received the Cosmic Creativity Award.

The contest received more than 200 submissions from students across the state. The six state award winners will receive a VIP Tour at Astrobotic Headquarters in Pittsburgh, a certificate and a mission patch.

All contest submissions will be included in a digital payload, which includes various items from earth, on the next mission to the moon.
