Two free family events happening this month in Scranton

Arts and industry in Scranton will be celebrated this month.

The Anthracite Heritage Museum’s Arts on Fire and the Steamtown National Historic Site’s railfest will both be held on June 17.

Arts on Fire is the museum's annual festival. The free event is from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Held at the historic Scranton Iron Furnaces, it will feature an iron pour, music, food, crafts and educational tents.

Railfest celebrates the nation's rail contributions. This free event from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. features tours, demonstrations, short train rides and other activities.

To keep the Arts on Fire event free, the Anthracite Heritage Museum and Iron Furnaces Associates are hosting a fundraiser on Friday, June 16. Tickets are $35 for the event at Bartari on Adams Avenue in Scranton.

This is the second year the Anthracite Museum and the historic site have collaborated to hold the events simultaneously.
