Artist of the Week
This television campaign is designed to call attention to high school students who have excelled in the study of the arts. The partnering high school selects two students, one visual artist and one performing artist, who will be interviewed at the WVIA studios for a 1-minute vignette. The Artist of the Week spot showcases the student, high school, and school district and salutes them for their artistic achievement on WVIA TV for one week and wvia.org for one year. The top ten artists in each category are honored at the annual WVIA Artist Celebration and from them, the WVIA Artist of the Year is Selected. For students in Grades 10-12.
Call for submissions
WVIA will once again be offering each of our member schools the opportunity to participate in the Artist of the Week Program, hosted by WVIA in partnership with the Pennsylvania College of Technology.
The Artist of the Week program features two students from each of our member high schools who have demonstrated exceptional achievement in visual arts, theatre, music or dance. The student chosen will be promoted on WVIA-TV during the week that he or she is chosen as Artist of the Week and featured on wvia.org for the entire school year. They will then be entered in the running to be our Artist of the Year. Please choose one performing artist and one visual artist that we can schedule to come to the studios together.
Selection of the student should be at the discretion of the high school teacher and/or administrator. Criteria should be based on the student's exceptional talent in the arts and overall character. The student and advising teacher will be required to come to WVIA to interview, with our production staff, what will become a one minute vignette featuring his or her talent.
