Despite all the rain northeast and central Pennsylvania received over the last few days, some counties are still technically under a drought watch.
According to a representative at the Department of Environmental Protection, the Commonwealth Drought Coordinator continues to monitor 90-day precipitation, stream flow, groundwater, and soil moisture levels.
A National Weather Service year-to-date precipitation map shows that Tioga, Union, Montour, Snyder and Northumberland counties have still received between 11-to-25 percent less rain than average.
The next official updates on drought watches across PA will come after September 13th, when the next Drought Task Force meeting will be held.
