Gov. Josh Shapiro visited the Lackawanna College Police Academy in Scranton Thursday to discuss workforce recruitment incentives.
Shapiro’s budget proposal aims to give tax breaks to new cops, teachers and nurses to fill workforce gaps.
His administration also wants to set aside more than $16 million for four new state trooper cadet classes in 2023-24, according to a release.
That money would go towards hiring and training 384 new troopers, Shapiro’s office said in a statement.
