A Luzerne County man is facing 40 to 80 years in prison for charges related to multiple sexual assaults and trying to have witnesses murdered.
Acting Attorney General Michelle Henry announced the sentence Thursday for Ferdinand Cuevas-Heredia of Pittston. Law enforcement officials said that beginning in 2014, Cuevas-Heredia repeatedly sexually assaulted female members of his family, including multiple minors as young as six years old.
While awaiting trial in September of last year, Cuevas-Heredia contacted an undercover officer and said he wanted three people killed. Officials said he sent the officer a letter detailing his plan and his mother delivered an envelope of cash to the officer as payment for the planned killing of the witnesses.
Cuevas-Heredia was classified as a Sexually Violent Predator in addition to the sentence.
