The Blind Boys of Alabama have been singing gospel music for more than 60 years. The group was founded at the Alabama Institute for the Negro Blind back in 1939. Yet they've never recorded, and rarely performed, Christmas music -- until now.
This season, they've released a CD featuring 12 holiday classics. Blind Boys members Jimmy Carter, Ricky McKinnie, Joey Williams, Tracy Pierce, Bobby Butler and their leader Clarence Fountain recently stopped by NPR to talk with NPR's Michele Norris, host of All Things Considered, about their new CD, Go Tell It on the Mountain.
