Driver injured after car strikes utility off Route 315 in Pittston Township, sparking fire

Firefighters are seen battling a blaze outside the Knights Inn on Route 315 in Jenkins Township on Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 3.

Firefighters extinguished a car fire outside Knights Inn off of Route 315 in Pittston Township Tuesday afternoon that left one person injured.

Jenkins Township Assistant Fire Chief Tony Angelella said his department was dispatched to the scene at 12:15 p.m.

The driver struck a telephone pole which broke in half, sparking the blaze. Further details about the crash were not immediately available.

Angelella said the driver was the sole person injured and was in the care of emergency responders.

Another car parked nearby also was damaged by the fire.
