Former vice president Mike Pence was in Plains Twp. today to show his support for two Pennsylvania GOP candidates.

After a private fundraiser event for 9th district U.S. Congressman Dan Meuser, both Pence and Meuser were joined by 8th district candidate Jim Bognet to speak to members of the press and a small group of supporters.

Standing up to Democrats in the White House and in Congress before the midterm elections on Nov. 8 was a central theme at the event off Route 315.

In response to a question about Republican voters “being pulled in several different directions” by the party, Pence had this to say:

"I have to tell you, traveling throughout about 35 states over the last year, I think the Republican Party is more united than any time in my lifetime," Pence said.

Pence went on to say that the Nov. 8 election is possibly the most important in the history of the nation. The former vice president declined to say whether or not he would run for president in 2024.
