Small or locally-owned businesses in Scranton can now apply for grants from the city’s American Rescue Plan funds.
The city opened the application period on Tuesday for two programs aimed at small businesses with a total of $1.75 million in funding.
A majority of that funding, $1.25 million, will go toward business startup grants. Businesses can apply for an award of up to five percent of their total startup or expansion costs between $6,000 and $100,00.
The city has allocated the remaining $500,000 to business facade improvements.
Façade grants are available up to $10,000 with a 25 percent match for single storefronts. If multiple eligible businesses share the same façade, they can submit a joint application for upgrades of up to $20,000 with the same 25 percent match.
Organizations can access the grant application at www.scrantonpa.gov/arpa.
