Governor's office announces funding for women's reentry services
On Sept. 16, Governor Tom Wolf’s office announced a $2 million funding program for services that benefit women when they come home from prison.
The program intends to give grants of up to $100,000 to organizations that provide resources for women who have been incarcerated.
Funds will be administered through the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD).
Calling the program the Women’s Reentry Services Initiative, PCCD is looking for groups who offer housing, employment, childcare and community treatment services.
The governor’s office estimates that more than 70% of women incarcerated in Pennsylvania have children.
The deadline for organizations to apply is October 25th.
