PennDOT reveals plans for Delaware River bridge project

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is inviting the public to look over plans and provide feedback on a bridge project in Northeast Pennsylvania.

The online plans display concerns the Delaware River Bridge Rehabilitation Project on State Route 6, which connects Matamoras Borough in Pike County to Port Jervis in Orange County, New York.

The project on section 451 of SR 6 proposes replacements for the sidewalks and deck of the current bridge, among other improvements, and is expected to take place in three stages.

PennDOT noted that the current bridge does not have a historic designation.

Construction is expected to begin in summer 2024 and continue until 2025.

The PennDOT plans and a link to a public questionnaire can be reached here until Feb. 3.
