Poconos leader will be guest at State of the Union address

Chris Barrett, president and CEO of the Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau, will be U.S. Representative Matt Cartwright’s guest at the 2023 State of the Union address.

This year’s address, given by President Joe Biden, will highlight, among other things, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. The law allotted a historic $66 billion to reestablish America’s rail lines.

According to Cartwright’s office, Barrett has been a committed supporter and champion of the congressman’s efforts to restore passenger rail service between Scranton and New York City.

The State of the Union Address is on Tuesday [Feb. 7] at 9 p.m. in the Chamber of the United States House of Representatives.
