The Health Legacy of a Heat Wave

Heat waves like the one currently sweeping the nation with 100-degree temperatures have an impact on public health, especially among the poor and elderly. Michele Norris talks with Eric Klinenberg, author of Heat Wave: A Social Autopsy of Disaster in Chicago.

A similar heat wave in Chicago claimed hundreds of lives in 1995, but Klineberg says the city has improved its defenses. He joins us from Chicago, where the temperature is expected to top 100 degrees Monday.
