Parties Ready Accusations, Challenges for Election

In the final days before the 2006 midterm election, there are charges that Republicans are trying to intimidate voters, and that Democrats are turning a blind eye to voter fraud.

In New York, the GOP has filed challenges against almost 6,000 voters in a highly competitive state Senate race in Westchester County, after comparing names against U.S. Postal Service change-of-address forms.

Democrats say the GOP is trying to intimidate voters, citing the party's new guide for poll watchers in Maryland, which calls for aggressive voter challenges.

Republicans say they're just trying to make sure there is no illegitimate voting. They point to an indictment this week in Missouri of four people hired by ACORN to sign up voters, who are accused of turning in fraudulent registrations.
