Mission: Formed in 2020, the Shamokin Gardens and Pocket Parks were created to help combat food insecurity and give the community an opportunity for a sustainable option of community engagement. The gardens serve as a community space where members can reserve garden beds to grow fruits, vegetables and/or flowers. Three separate spaces throughout the city provide walking access to residents living near these areas and allow a physical space to practice gardening and get involved with the environment and the community.
