  • Local organizations and one resident received awards from the PA Route 6 Alliance.Honesdale resident Lisa Glover was presented with the Heritage Leadership Award. Glover served on the borough’s Parks & Recreation Commission. She has also been a major supporter of the Wayne County Arts Alliance. This year she worked with students and volunteers to create a mural in an old railroad trestle along Route 6. The artwork depicts what teens want to see in their community.Lackawaxen River Trails was presented with the Heritage Tourism Award.The organization is working to build an interconnected trail system through Honesdale, White Mill and Hawley. They hope to use the railroad and Route 6 corridor to connect trails in the area and the communities.Highland Chocolates in Wellsboro won the artisan of the year award. The non-profit chocolate factory and retail store provides vocational training and employment for adults with disabilities.The alliance manages, promotes and supports the PA Route 6 Heritage Corridor.
