Eleanor’s work was always her salvation. In the 1950s, she was still political active. She played hardball politics with a New York city boss, campaigned for Adlai Stevenson for president, and eventually supported John Kennedy in his 1960 bid for the White House. All the time, she continued to push for progressive/liberal initiatives and didn’t hesitate to criticize those with whom she disagreed.
