The Treaty of Ghent

The Treaty of Ghent outlines the agreement that ended the war. The negotiating nations, Britain and the U.S. largely ignored the rights of Native nations in the settling of the conflict. The treaty was signed December 24, 1814, but not ratified until 1815.

Funding for The War of 1812 was provided by the National Endowment for the Humanities, The Wilson Foundation, Warren and Barbara Goldring, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, The Arthur Vining Davis Foundations, Philip B. Lind and The Annenberg Foundation with additional support from The Baird Foundation, Niagara Falls Bridge Commission and The Jackman Foundation.
