Commissioner Bill Gaughan on Monday called on Lackawanna County to fund an independent, $165,000 health impact study of proposed data centers and power plants.

The Code Purple designation, which is based on the amount of particulate matter in the air, means conditions are "very unhealthy," state officials say, and all residents are encouraged to move their activities indoors.
