Tioga and Lycoming County rail trail named Pa.'s Trail of the Year

The Pine Creek Rail Trail is the 2026 Pennsylvania Trail of the Year. The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources made the announcement Thursday.

Irene and Gene Feerrar are seen at their Happy Acres Resort in Waterville earlier this week. Gene Feerrar said there will be between 400 and 500 people who will be lodging with them for the holiday week. Nestled on 60 acres in Lycoming County, the resort attracts people from as far away as Canada.

The sprawling Pennsylvania Wilds, with over 2 million acres of public land, comprise the largest green space between Chicago and New York.

Pine Creek Gorge, often called the Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania, seen from Leonard Harrison State Park. The gorge runs through Tioga, Lycoming and Clinton counties in the PA Wilds section of the state.

Out-of-state air force grounds plan for low flyovers above PA Wilds

The Maryland Air National Guard will not fly low level training flights over the PA Wilds. That’s according to U.S. Senators Bob Casey and John Fetterman. Local and federal officials and stakeholders from the region pushed the military for over a year to abandon the plan.
