Well, in just over a month, there were nearly 1,000 submissions, four finalists and now, one winning choice.
MICHELLE NORRIS, host:
Back in August, we asked you to send in your ideas for lyrics to our theme song. Then on Tuesday, we announced the four finalists and invited you to go to our Web site to vote for one of the four or to keep the song lyric-free.
BLOCK: The votes are in. And to announce the winner, we've called upon listener Peter Laity(ph) of Madison, Wisconsin. His lyrics did not make the final cut, but he graciously agreed to reveal the contest winner in song.

Mr. PETER LAITY (Madison resident): (Singing) When I do consider all things. Chief among them is your theme. I can hear it while I'm driving if my radio is on. All day long it's in my head. I tap my foot like Larry Craig. Sometimes words can add more meaning, but in this case, let it be. Just leave well enough alone and keep the theme song lyric-free.
NORRIS: That's right. By a large margin, you, the listeners, have voted to keep our theme song free of lyrics. We will, however, be sending ATC coffee mugs to our four finalists.
