And our last word in business today comes from Mad magazine. The word is Sucker City. That's what Mad dubbed Circuit City in a spoof of the electronics chain in the magazine's latest edition. When Circuit City officials saw the parody, they pulled the magazine from store shelves. And then they realized the error of their ways.
STEVE INSKEEP, host:
The company spokesman Jim Babb quickly issued an apology attributing the knee-jerk censorship to, quote, "overly sensitive souls at our corporate headquarters." And then to prove that his company does appreciate humor, Mr. Babb went on to write: We are creating a cross-departmental task force to study the importance of humor in the corporate workplace and expect the resulting Power Point presentation to top out at least 300 pages. He also sent the magazine's editors $20 gift cards toward the purchase of a Nintendo Wii.
MONTAGNE: And Steve, Mad editors say they're still shocked and confused. Mainly because they had no idea Circuit City sells magazines.
