Three people have been arrested in the death of an infant in Sullivan County earlier this year.
Amy and Drew Hoenigke and Brigette Meckes — all of Sullivan County — have been charged with involuntary manslaughter and aggravated assault. They're also facing charges of recklessly endangering another person, and endangering the welfare of a child after a newborn died in their care, the Pennsylvania Attorney General Announced Monday.
With the help of a family friend, the Hoenigkes delivered the baby at home in January 2022, according the AG's office. After showing signs of distress, the child died just two days later despite at-home efforts to aid the newborn. They reportedly waited three days to alert authorities.
Meckes had some medical experience, but was not licensed to practice, according to the statement.
