WIC

The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture notified local governments and agencies last week that the federal government is holding back money appropriated for the vouchers, which means fewer recipients will get vouchers and their distribution has been delayed.

Fifty years ago Pennsylvania introduced WIC, a federal program to help at-risk mothers and their children. Since then the program has helped millions of mothers and children not just in the Keystone State but across the country. Maternal and Family Health Services has provided the program in the region since it began five decades ago.
