The Friedman Observatory at Penn State Wilkes-Barre will be open for three nights in a row this week to give the public a chance to spot a rare green comet.
The observatory will open at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 1. Wednesday night looks like the best chance to catch the C/2022 E3 comet, observatory staff noted in a post, but the facility will also be open at 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday nights.
According to the Associated Press, the green comet hasn’t passed by Earth for some 50 thousand years. It will come within 26 million miles of the planet on Wednesday night.
