The ceremonial Sea Cadet Color Guard leads the Wyoming Valley Veterans Day Parade from Kingston to Wilkes-Barre on Sunday, Nov. 9.

The 80th annual Wyoming Valley Veterans Day Parade stepped off at 2 p.m. Sunday at Market Street and Rutter Avenue in Kingston. Because of the government shutdown, no active duty military marched in the parade, though some volunteered on their own time.

But veterans joined the parade alongside mayors from Luzerne County municipalities and other elected officials, first responders and representatives from each branch of the military walked the parade route.

Local marching bands also performed as people stood along the route waving flags.
