Late season hunting begins in Pennsylvania

Many small game and furbearer hunting seasons plus the final deer seasons of 2022-23 kicked off this week.

Late seasons for archery and flintlock deer hunting began Dec. 26 continue until Jan. 16.

The small game seasons, which include ring-necked pheasants, rabbits and squirrels, resumed after a pause this weekend and continue until Feb. 27.

About 32,000 pheasants will be released between this week and next week. By early January, a total of nearly 52,000 pheasants will have been released statewide since mid-December, according to the Pennsylvania Game Commission.

Pennsylvania’s snowshoe hare season also runs from Monday until Dec. 31.

All hunters must have a license registered with the Game Commission.

More information on hunting season dates and bag limits can be found here.
