Votes for the river that runs through the Poconos flooded out the competition. The Delaware River is the 2025 Pennsylvania River of the Year.

Three rivers. One award. Voting is now open for Pennsylvania River of the Year. The Delaware River, which flows through the Poconos in Northeast Pennsylvania, is up against Perkiomen Creek, a tributary of the Schuylkill River, located northwest of Philadelphia; and the Youghiogheny River in Southwestern Pa.

The Upper Delaware BioBlitz took a snapshot of biodiversity in Wayne County. Over 24 hours, both professional scientists and amateur naturalists identified around 720 species around the Delaware River. It also gave the public a chance to meet with scientists in the field.
