For members of Northeast Pennsylvania's Venezuelan community, news of Nicolás Maduro's apprehension has reopened deep emotional wounds while also igniting cautious hope. Many remain closely connected to loved ones in Venezuela and continue to follow events unfolding on the ground.

State police say an 18-year-old man and a 15-year-old boy were shot outside a Freeland business earlier Tuesday morning. The 18-year-old later died at a local hospital.
