Schuylkill River Greenways National Heritage Area

Environmental News covers a lot of ground. Community News covers it all. January began with the shooting of a Scranton Police officer who made a miraculous recovery. In between, more trail projects began or continued. Community members pressed on to come up with innovative ideas and events, while solutions were sought for environmental issues.

Schuylkill County and Philadelphia have always been connected by a meandering natural resource – through the American Revolution, the Industrial Revolution and environmental transformations. The Schuylkill River Greenways National Heritage Area will add more miles to its river trail to preserve that shared history and contribute to Pennsylvania’s recreation revolution.
