Thom Welby, Lackawanna County’s newest commissioner, is sworn in and on the job. And The Woodlands, a hotel and resort in Luzerne County, is shut down by code enforcement.

A code official said Plains Township had to temporarily condemn the facility Monday night because it had no electric and no heat after service was shut off for non-payment of bills. Plains Township Deputy Fire Chief Mike Sebia said an inspection will be required before the property can reopen.
