An early morning house fire Wednesday in Shavertown, Kingston Twp., left one man dead and two other people hospitalized. It also marked the third fatal residential blaze in Luzerne County in less than a week.

Knoebel spent his life helping shape the Elysburg resort, serving as president from 1988-2025. He died peacefully Thursday surrounded by family at age 87, the park said.
