Lackawanna Heritage Trail

Between Scranton and Wilkes-Barre lies Duryea, a small borough with big plans to be an outdoor recreation destination in Pennsylvania. About 60 people took on a first day of the year hike through the Duryea wetlands to learn about the area’s future.

Adaptive bicycles can be expensive. Transporting the equipment adds an additional cost. To remove limitations, Individual Mobilities in Motion partners with the University of Scranton to provide cycles and training to people with mobility issues.

The thousands of people who run, walk and bike the Lackawanna Heritage Trail generate millions into the local and state outdoor economy. They’re buying snacks and gear. The latest user survey and economic impact analysis also includes ideas from the community on how to make the trail better.
