An experiment from students at Greater Nanticoke Area High School will soon reach new heights — and could provide insight into conditions on Mars. NASA selected the Luzerne County juniors as one of 60 winning teams from across the country in the TechRise Student Challenge.

Monday’s celestial event eclipsed the University of Scranton community. Students sat outside buildings and looked up at the sun with special glasses. A telescope with sun protection faced the center of the solar system. On the fifth floor of the Loyola Science Center, professors, students and citizens worked on a project for NASA.
