Scranton Mayor Paige Cognetti will run for Congress next year, joining one of the nation's hottest expected contests, and won't drop out of this year's campaign for mayor.

Dozens of local labor leaders, union members, elected officials and other supporters gathered in Scranton — in a region where union membership is nearly double the national average. Those leaders say union rights are under attack by the federal government.
