Isabela Weiss | WVIA News | Report for America
Isabela joined WVIA News in July 2023 to cover rural government through Report for America, a public service organization that connects young journalists to under-covered communities and issues.
Her work with WVIA quickly expanded from covering small-town government to following everything rural — from agriculture to healthcare, environment to arts and culture in NEPA/Central Pennsylvania’s vast, 22-county region.
A Peach State native and University of Georgia graduate, Isabela moved to Pennsylvania after graduating with dual Bachelor’s degrees in English and Political Science to follow her passion for local storytelling. Her story in local news started with an internship, then a part-time job, with Athens, Ga’s NPR station, WUGA.
Isabela has won statewide awards for her journalism, including a 2022 GABBY from the Georgia Association of Broadcasters.
